MATCH REACTION: Vaulks salutes Rotherham's staying power

MIDFIELDER Will Vaulks has praised Rotherham United's fitness levels after two energetic performances yielded six points against promotion rivals.

Following on from Saturday's impressive 1-0 win over Portsmouth, the Millers ran out 2-0 victors against Bradford at the NYS, thanks to goals from new striker Michael Smith and Joe Newell.

And Advertiser columnist Vaulks believes that the fitness foundations that were laid in pre-season are now bearing fruit.

He told the Advertiser: "It's exactly what we needed in these two games, it's a massive six points.

"Our fitness levels are showing as well now because we're steamrollering teams in the last 20 minutes, that's something we've put in from day one of pre-season, now we're reaping the benefits.

"We said beforehand if we can get four or six points it would be brilliant, especially with both teams being around us."

The Millers and Vaulks now have an extended break with no game on Saturday, and the aim is to keep the momentum going.

Vaulks added:"The place is good at the moment, we're on a great run and we just have to keep it up."
