Man suffers life-threatening injuries in Goldthorpe collision

A MAN has been left with life-threatening injuries after a car crashed into a garden wall.

The 22-year-old had to be cut out of his vehicle following the early morning incident on Highgate Lane, Goldthorpe, early today.

At around 1.55am, the man was driving a black Seat Ibiza when it left the road just after the junction of West View Crescent.

The car collided with the garden wall of a property on Highgate Lane and with a parked Ford Transit van before coming to a stop.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said the reason for the car leaving the road was “for reasons not yet known".

The 22-year-old driver was taken to hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening.

A Fire Service spokeswoman said that a man was extricated from the vehicle and treated by paramedics.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.
