A MAN was arrested on suspicion of rape as part of the ongoing investigation into historic abuse in Rotherham.

The National Crime Agency, which is running Operation Stovewood, arrested the 32-year-old yesterday (Tuesday) on suspicion of rape and conspiracy to rape two girls under 16 between 2000 and 2003.

The man was interviewed and later released under investigation.

A total of 24 men have been arrested and seven individuals charged with 42 offences during the Operation Stovewood investigation.

Officers have dealt with more than 200 victims and survivors so far.
