Man found dead in river

A BODY believed to be that of a man who went missing yesterday morning has been found in the River Don.

Police officers searching for Christopher Akers, of Castledine Gardens, Wincobank, made the discovery at 3pm today near Meadowhall Way.

The body has not yet been formally identified, but Mr Akers’s family has been informed.

The 22-year-old was last heard from at 1.45am yesterday.

His last known whereabouts were on Meadowhall Road at the junction with Jenkin Road.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.
