Man fighting for life after smash

POLICE appealed for witnesses after a car failed to stop following a crash which left a man fighting for life and injured three other people.

A blue Peugeot 206, driven by a 27-year-old man from Carlton in Lindrick, was travelling from Tickhill to Oldcotes on Worksop Road on Friday afternoon.

A grey Citroen Picasso, driven by a 75-year-old man from Conisbrough, was heading in the opposite direction near the junction for Stoney Brigg Farm.

It is reported that a black hatchback overtook the Citroen, causing a reaction from the Peugeot driver, who lost control and collided with the Picasso.

A passenger in the Peugeot, a 35-year-old man from Carlton in Lindrick, sustained life-threatening injuries including a fractured spine and a bleed on the brain. He was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General.

The Peugeot driver suffered a broken leg and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The Citroen driver sustained broken ribs and a passenger, a 78-year-old woman from Conisbrough,  also suffered a fractured breastbone. Both were taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Police want to trace the driver of the unknown small hatchback reported to be travelling from Oldcotes to Tickhill at about 4.40pm.
