Man dies in Maltby flat fire

A MAN has died following a fire at his flat in Maltby.

Crews from Maltby, Aston Park and Edlington were called to the incident at 11:38pm on Friday.

A fire service spokesman said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and two hose reels were used to extinguish the fire.

"Unfortunately, a man in his 50s was found to have died."

The man who died has not yet been named.

The spokesman said investigation into the cause of the fire would now take place.
