Man charged with assaulting police officer
A MAN from Rotherham was charged with assaulting a police officer after a disturbance in Kent.
Police were called to High Street in the centre of Maidstone shortly before 2am on Thursday.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Officers attended the scene and two men were arrested. It is then alleged that a police officer was assaulted as one of the men was being conveyed into custody.”

Hide AdMatthew Pritchard (31), of Nearcroft Road, was charged with assaulting a police constable and attempting criminal damage to a property.
He was bailed to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on October 20. The second man arrested was later released without charge.
