Man charged in connection with murder of Richard Broughton

Reece Thompson (25), formerly referred to as Kayne Reece Jones, of Christchurch Road, West Melton, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 8) charged with murder in connection with the death of 37-year-old Richard Broughton.

Mr Broughton died in hospital on Sunday, April 30, after reportedly being involved in an altercation in Welland Crescent, Elsecar, on Friday, April 28.

A post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death was multiple injuries.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to call 101 quoting incident number 1021 of April 28.

Thompson was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, June 5.
