Man (28) left seriously injured in Thorpe Hesley attack

A MAN has been left seriously injured after an attack in Thorpe Hesley.

Police officers are appealing for information and witnesses to a violent assault on a 28-year-old man which left him with serious injuries to his head and body.

The assault happened as the man was walking along Thorpe Street, Thorpe Hesley, near its junction with Barnsley Road, at around 9pm on Tuesday.

The two men were driving in what is thought to have been a silver Vauxhall Corsa, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said.

The 28-year-old sustained serious injuries to his body and head in the incident and his mobile phone was stolen.

An investigation is ongoing and officers are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time, or saw a silver Vauxhall Corsa type car, to report it.

Investigating officer PC Paul McIntyre, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “This was a violent attack that has left a man with very serious injuries.

“We have been making a number of enquiries in relation to the investigation and I would urge anyone with any information to please report it.

“I understand this incident will cause distress to our local communities, however I would like to offer my reassurance that we are committed to identifying and bringing those responsible to justice.”
