Magna chef joins healthy eating drive

LIVE cooking demonstrations will be held in the town centre this weekend to encourage the town to opt for healthy meals.

Magna chef Steve Harrison will lead the demonstrations, supported by the Ministry of Food, tomorrow and Saturday between noon and 2pm.

The demonstrations will include fresh locally bought ingredients and will take place at Rotherham outdoor covered market.

Gill Harrison of NHS Rotherham said: “Many people chose so called convenience food and take aways over home cooked meals because they think it is quicker, easier and cheaper.

“This simply isn't the case, there are hundreds of quick and simple recipes that do not contain expensive ingredients and provide a much healthier family meal, and they taste much better too.”

Market shoppers will be given the opportunity to sample the food and recipe cards will be handed out. Eastwood Fish, Ellis Fruit and Veg and Dale Farm have donated the ingredients. The Market Meals event has been organised by NHS Rotherham.
