M1 restrictions warning as engineers get to work

MOTORISTS face disruption on the M1 through South Yorkshire while maintenance work is carried out.

A 50mph speed restriction has been imposed between junctions 35a and 37 while a section of the steel central reservation is replaced.

The work will continue until April 19.

The Highways Agency is also carrying out repairs to the Brinsworth Road Bridge over the B6067, which carries the M1 between junction 33 and 34, until March 15.

The bridge deck expansion joints are being replaced and the bridge is will be resurfaced.

Work to the underside of the bridge is expected to be completed in a day and will be undertaken using single lane running and temporary traffic signals on Brinsworth Road (B6067) between Wood Lane and Brinsworth Hall Crescent.
