M1 crash victim suffers back injuries

A PASSENGER suffered a fractured hip and spinal injuries in a crash on the M1.

A black Nissan Micra, being driven by a 50-year-old woman, was travelling north towards Leeds last night.

The car remained in lane one to exit at Meadowhall but then re-entered the motorway carriageway in front of a silver Audi A5.

The Audi, being driven by a 30-year-old man from Leeds, collided with the back of the Nissan.

A 28-year-old man, also from Leeds, who was a rear seat passenger in the Nissan, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Northern General Hospital.

The Nissan driver was also taken to hospital with cuts and bruises.

Anyone with information about the crash, shortly before 9.30pm, is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 941 of December 4.
