M1 closed after footbridge fall death
A STRETCH of the M1 was closed last night following the death of a man who fell from a footbridge.
Police attended at about 8.45pm and the man, who has yet to be formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The section of the southbound carriageway, between junction 35 at Thorpe Hesley and junction 34 at Meadowhall, was shut until this morning.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said enquiries were ongoing.
