Lost Battle of Britain comrades remembered in Rotherham ceremony

FORMER fliers paid tribute to their lost comrades to mark annual Battle of Britain Week.

Members of the Rotherham Royal Air Forces Association visited Rotherham Town Hall to raise the RAF flag.

They also conducted a flag-raising at Rotherham Minster, where a commemoration service will be held at 10.30am on Sunday.

Events are held and commemorations made in September every year to mark the Battle of Britain, the aerial conflict between the RAF and the Luftwaffe which took place between July and October 1940.

The minster will also play host to a concert marking the RAF’s 100th anniversary on March 31 next year.
