Lombard's The Apprentice-style challenge aids deafblind

STAFF from a Rotherham finance firm got into the Christmas spirit by giving their own gift to deafblind adults and children.

A team from Lombard in Rotherham took part in a national Apprentice-style competition to raise £60,000 by running a Sense charity shop for the day.

The Battleshops competition saw the Rotherham team take on 19 other Lombard teams from across the country in an attempt to lure customers in using fancy dress, Christmas songs and an auction of signed celebrity merchandise.

The competition was organised by Sense—the national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind.

Wendy Harrison, a Sense shop manager, said: “I enjoyed handing over the reins to the Lombard team for the day.

“There was no Alan Sugar judging their sales skills but the till certainly was ringing out loud for Christmas.”

Once the funds have been collected the winning team will be announced.
