The infant sustained a fractured skull, bleeding behind both eyes and spinal damage before dying four days later in hospital.

A pathologist later found old injuries on the child’s body including several broken ribs which revealed Kieron had been gripped with “extensive force” in the previous weeks.

At Sheffield Crown Court Hutchinson, whose address cannot be reported, was jailed for for life by Mr Justice with a minimum term of 12 years after what the judge Mr Justice Macduff called a “spur of the moment loss of temper.”
