LETTER: Great community work for children

I WOULD like to highlight the fantastic work done within our local community during the holidays to encourage children to keep fit and healthy.

My fine-year-old son recently attended a sports camp, held at Thrybergh Sports Centre, located on the Thrybergh Academy campus. The sports camp was hosted by the gym staff during the school holidays, and was extremely well organised and great fun for all the children, introducing them to new activities such as indoor climbing, and giving them confidence in skills such as hockey and football, whilst providing a safe environment for them to enjoy fun activities and exercise.

At a time where the “health of the nation” is a talking point, not always for the right reasons, I think initiatives like this should be given the encouragement and recognition they deserve within our local community. My son is already looking forward to the next opportunity to attend.
