Last waste centre re-opens for business

A waste plant is due to re-open after undergoing an extensive refurbishment.

The last of Rotherham's four household waste recycling centres will open its doors on Christmas Eve following an 18-month makeover.

The Magilla site, on Common Road in North Anston, is the latest to benefit from funding worth £1.5 million from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The work on four sites has included improvements to drainage and re-surfacing together with a new layout, which will make it easier for people to use and recycle.

Christmas opening times for all the sites are from 9.30am until 4pm on weekdays and weekends, apart from Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve when the sites will close at 3pm.

They will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Householders are asked to assist in recycling by sorting out their waste.
