Kids urged to join mini-pots scheme

CARING kids are being urged to use their nurturing skills to grow pots of cash for a national cancer charity.

Marie Curie Cancer Care are appealing for youngsters aged between three and 11 to become part of their Mini Pots of Care fund-raising scheme, which sees them sponsored for growing pots of daffodils.

The scheme, sponsored by Homebase, raised £12,000 in South Yorkshire last year and sees children receive all the materials they need to create a flourishing array of daffodils.

They must use their nurturing skills to fill their pot with blooms in time for next spring. Mini Pots of Care was devised to reflect the nurturing abilities of the charity’s cancer care nurses using its logo, the daffodil.

The deadline for entries is September 30 and schools are encouraged to get involved thanks to detailed lesson plans which have been devised in conjunction with the National Curriculum’s Key Stages 1 and 2. To get involved, and receive a free planting kit, visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/minipotsofcare or call 08700 340 040.
