Kids learn about the appliance of science

YOUNGSTERS from the Dearne Valley have been discovering the science behind policing on a visit to a museum.

PCSO Shaun McDermott discussed aerodynamics with a class of ten and 11-year-olds from Lacewood Primary School, Bolton-on-Dearne.

Police dog handlers brought several drug dogs to the school as part of Science Week, explaining their role in locating illegal substances and helping investigations.

PCSO McDermott, from Dearne Safer Neighbour said: “As always, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the pupils of Lacewood Primary School.

“I spend my time there chatting, advising and supporting the youngsters in anyway I can while offering important police messages and safety advice when possible to ensure they are safe and confident in their community as they grow up.”
