Key's frustration after latest Titans defeat

After 40-point beatings in their opening two, Rotherham's 32-21 defeat at home to new boys Harpury leaves them stuck at the foot of the RFU Championship without a point.

They now face the longest trip in the game to Pirates — but Key says it's a chance to put the record straight.

He was left tearing his hair out after Saturday's poor display.

Hartpury scored three first half tries to lead 19-6 at the break, Rotherham having two Lee Millar penalties to their credit.

They did haul themselves back into the game early in the second half when centre Luke Peters crashed through. The sides traded penalties before the college side were reduced to 14 men after a yellow card and Rotherham responded well when Jake Henry scored from the wing and Millar's excellent conversion made it a one-point game.

But any hopes Titans had were dashed as Harpury, back up to 15, found a second wins and put the result beyond doubt when Tom Heard scored their bonus point try.

Key reflected: “The result was a frustrating one because we brought a lot to the game. I thought our first 15 minutes was right up there and that’s exactly how we want to play. We put them on the back foot but we were unable to finish off the opportunities that we created.

"While we were really pleased with the second-half performance, you look at the final score and it is still a defeat. However, going forward, if we can start games and go forward in the manner we did in the second half for the whole game then we really will be on the up.”
