Kevin shows the way for volunteers

KEVIN Barron swapped the House of Commons for the shop floor in a bid to encourage charity volunteers.

The Rother Valley MP rolled up his sleeves for a shift at the Barnardo’s shop in Wickersley, part of national Make A Difference Day.

Children’s charity Barnado’s has more than 6,000 retail volunteers helping raise funds for vulnerable youngsters and their families.

Mr Barron said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering in the shop. It was good to meet the staff and volunteers who all do such a worthwhile job.”

Make a Difference Day is organised by UK volunteering charity Community Service Volunteers to encourage people to try unpaid service.
