A THIRD of Rotherham’s borough council seats are up for grabs—in the first true test of public opinion since the coalition Government was formed.

Twenty-one members will be voted today with places belonging to the council leader, deputy leader and opposition leader among those contested.

Elections will be also be contested for parish councils in Anston, Aston, Hellaby, Orgreave, Thorpe Salvin, Thurcroft, Ulley and Wales.

Dinnington and Maltby town council hopefuls will also go to the polls. These counts take place on Friday.
