Mr Paul O'Shea, mitigating, said there had been a pursuit between the defendant and his co-accused, Shezad Ahmed of St John’s Road, East Dene, who pleaded guilty at a hearing in April.

The court heard Ahmed (23) crashed his vehicle.

Mr O’Shea asked for sentencing to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared ahead of Choudhry's next appearance at the same court on November 4.

Judge Peter Kelson QC told Choudhry that all sentencing options, including prison, remained open.
