Inquest opened on policeman killed after collision with car
A CORONER has opened an inquest into the death of a police officer killed when he collided with a car.
Darren Platt (52) of St David’s Drive, South Anston died in the traffic accident at around 10.20am on Saturday, March 1.
He was walking along Hard Lane, Kiveton Park, when the incident occurred. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Hide AdMr Platt worked with South Yorkshire Police's Crime Management Unit in Barnsley, a police spokeswoman confirmed this afternoon.
Rotherham coroner Ms Nicola Mundy opened the inquest on Friday morning (7).
She adjourned it until July 23, while police and a pathologist complete their investigations.
Officers urge anyone who witnessed the incident to telephone them on 101, quoting incident number 421 of March 1.
