Injured driver trapped after crash

A 20-year-old man had to be cut free from his car after colliding with a lamppost.

A 20-year-old man had to be cut free from his car after crashing into a lamppost.

Firefighters from Aston and Maltby fire stations were called to Sheffield Road, Tickhill, following the incident at around 5.55am this morning.

The man, believed to be from Mexborough, was found to be trapped inside his Renault Clio hatchback when the crews arrived.

A fire service spokesman said: “Both driver’s side doors had to be cut from the car to retrieve the man from the car.

“He was taken to Rotherham General Hospital suffering from suspected neck and back injuries.”

Firefighters completed the operation in less than 30 minutes.
