Immobilise register helps to beat the thieves

DENIS MacShane registered his mobile with a national database—part of a police drive to trace owners when stolen property is recovered.

The Rotherham MP was at Ferham Fair, where officers from Rotherham North Safer Neighbourhood Team offered crime prevention advice.

Registering phones and other possessions with Immobilise is free and increases the chance of theft victims getting their possessions back.

PCSO James Thorpe said: “We registered more than 20 people’s phones, including Dr MacShane’s, and handed out over 200 information packs.

“It was a great day to  promote personal safety and remind people of what is available to them to avoid becoming a victim of crime.”
