Illegal immigrants disappear

THREE suspected illegal immigrants caught yards from the Advertiser offices have absconded after being freed on immigration bail.

Singh Pal (18), Ambrtsar Gurpreet (19) and Malkit Singh (55) were found stowed away  in the back of a lorry in Manvers in February.

They were arrested on suspicion of entering the country illegally and taken to the UK Border Agency centre in Liverpool.

All three were put on report to the UKBA while their cases were considered.

Two were claiming asylum but an attempt was made to secure travel documentation to remove the third from the country.

Pal, Gurpreet and Singh have all subsequently failed to report back to the centre and have now been classed as “absconders” which the UKBA is looking to detain.

A spokesman said: “We cannot indefinitely detain someone when considering asylum claims or awaiting travel documentation, and therefore use a reporting system that requires individuals to report regularly to their nearest UK Border Agency centre.

“Last year we removed over 64,000 immigration offenders from the UK.”
