Hundreds attend Rotherham prayer gatherings

HUNDREDS of people turned out to hold a mass prayer gathering last night in the wake of the child abuse scandal.

HUNDREDS of people turned out to hold mass public prayer gatherings last night in the wake of the child abuse scandal.

Rotherham Churches Together organised the Take Back the Streets gatherings at Clifton Park’s war memorial and Riverside House, before another service at Rotherham Minster attended by about 600 people.

The Minster will be open next Tuesday between 9am and 6pm for people to pray for and reflect upon recent events in Rotherham.

Throughout the day there will be opportunity for quiet prayer, reflection and the lighting of candles.

At 12.15pm a short act of corporate prayer will include the opening of a prayer station where people will be able to sit, pray and reflect.
