Housing bosses deny "hate list"

HOUSING chiefs have denied managers drew up a “hate list” of workers they wanted to sack as part of job cuts.

Bosses at crisis-hit 2010 Rotherham have admitted considering redundancies but dismissed the hit list claims as “scaremongering.”

But inside sources insisted a row had blown up over the lists, which they say emerged after a meeting between managers and the interim director of the direct labour department.

Job cuts are on the way following financial losses and an expected reduction in funding from 2010’s owners, Rotherham Borough Council, after the end of the decent homes scheme.

An insider told the Advertiser: ”All the managers in the direct labour organisation were called in and told the borough council was reducing its budget after the decent homes programme finished, probably from £25 million to £18 million a year.

“They were told it would mean a slimmed down service and were asked to make a list of people they don’t like who they could get rid of."

2010 Rotherham's interim chief executive, Graham Eades saidt: "As part of the externalisation programme involving 2010 Rotherham's In House Service Provider and the budget process, various options are being considered.

"Your non-attributable sources in this case are clearly scaremongering, and causing their work mates and colleagues unnecessary anxiety which is not helpful to anyone."
