Hospital roadworks warning

VISITORS to Rotherham Hospital are being advised to allow more time for their journey during roadworks which start next week on Moorgate Road.

Diversions for cars, buses and taxis will be in place at the entrance from Monday.

Rotherham Borough Council has allowed two weeks for the work, although it is only expected to take three to five days.

Buses will continue to run regularly in the area and stops on Baker Street, adjacent to Moorgate Road, will still be in use.

Ambulances and other emergency vehicles will continue to have full, quick and safe access in and out of the hospital.

John Cartwright, the trust’s director of estates and facilities, said: “We’re asking those coming for appointments, to visit loved ones or for work to allow extra time so appointments aren’t missed.

“Alongside the council, we have worked closely with local travel providers and residents to ensure the work causes as little disruption as possible.

“Long-term, we are pleased the work will lead to improved road conditions for our patients, visitors and staff.”

The works will take place during daylight hours, mostly between 7am and 7pm. Car parking at the hospital will not be directly affected.
