BARNSLEY HOSPITAL is holding a special memorial service for families who have lost a baby or child at any time during or after pregnancy.

The hospital will hold its eighth annual service in its chapel at 2pm on Sunday, October 13. The service is open to all family members.

Families will be invited to light candles in memory of the baby or child they wish to remember, and will also be able to ask for their baby or child’s name to be read out.

Paula Paynter, hospital counsellor, said: “Each year we find that the service brings peace and comfort to families who have experience great sorrow.

“The service provides families with the opportunity to share their feelings with others who have had similar experiences and helps them to cope with their grief.”
