Horror accident boy's condition improves

A NINE-year-old left fighting for his life after suffering head injuries in a collision with a car in Kimberworth is improving.

A NINE-year-old cyclist left fighting for his life after suffering head injuries in a collision with a car in Kimberworth is improving.

The boy was this week said to be no longer in a life threatening condition but still serious.

The accident happened at around 6.10pm on Thursday September 27 when a black Peugeot 307 driven by a 56-year-old man from Kimberworth, is believed to have been travelling on Richmond Park Avenue near Meadowhall Road.

About 30 metres from the junction with Sopewell Road it is reported that the boy on a bicycle emerged from the near side kerb and collided with the front of the vehicle.

The youngster, also from Kimberworth, suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, and was taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The driver of the Peugeot was not injured.
