Head confident 'failing' Rotherham school will improve

A STRUGGLING Rotherham junior school has been place in special measures by Ofsted inspectors.

Inspectors say that the quality of teaching at Badsley Moor Juniors varies widely and the school’s leadership is inadequate.

Pupils were not enthusiastic in too many lessons and progress was slow because they were not involved in the lessons.

Samantha Thompson, head teacher at the Tennyson Road school said changes had been brought in, but had yet to make an impact.

She said; “All staff are fully committed and determined to improve teaching for all of our children.

“Pupils’ behaviour is good and parents are supportive of what we are trying to achieve so we have strong foundations to build on.

Mrs Thompson said: “We’re confident these changes, along with the support of governors and parents, will ensure that standards improve quickly.”
