Have your health checked at Rotherham leisure centres

HEART health checks are being carried out at leisure centres in Rotherham this week to help people cut cholesterol and stay in good nick.

Rotherham Leisure Complex, Aston Leisure Centre, Wath Leisure Centre and Maltby Leisure Centre are teaming up with charity Heart UK to back National Cholesterol Week, which runs until Sunday.

They aim raise £15,000 to support the charity’s work by carrying out health checks in return for a £3 donation.

Gym users are also being encouraged to take part in a fun gym challenge to help improve their health and fitness and make sure their heart stays healthy.

Richard Cowley, contract manager at DC Leisure, which runs the leisure centres, said: “Many people are unaware they have high cholesterol or that it might endanger their health.

“By raising awareness during the month of October we hope to help our customers be more informed and take appropriate measures to improve their cholesterol levels.”

Heart UK is the country’s only cholesterol charity, dedicated to providing support for people with inherited and non-inherited high cholesterol.
