FAMILIES from a Rotherham weight management club will take part in a fancy dress fun walk this Hallowe'en to raise awareness of National Obesity Week.

Children from the Carnegie Club will be dressing up in spooky outfits to complete the two mile challenge at Herringthorpe Athletics Stadium this Saturday to celebrate their achievement so far.

Carnegie Club is a free 12-week weight loss programme giving overweight children and their families information about how to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Funded by NHS Rotherham, the clubs are aimed at young people aged between eight and 17 and are delivered by DC Leisure.

There will be two separate walks with starting times of 11am and 1pm. Families will be able to walk, jog or run as part of the challenge.

There will also be a prize give-away of a BMX Joker bike donated by J E James Cycles.

During the event, visitors can find out more about Carnegie Clubs and sign up for the January programme which starts on January 4.

Clubs, which are free to people registered with a Rotherham GP, take place at Rotherham Leisure Complex and Aston-cum-Aughton Leisure Centre.
