GUIDE dog Clover took pride of place at a fundraising event at a sheltered housing scheme.

White Rose House Sheltered scheme in Rotherham held an "Older Persons day" to raise money for Rotherham Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The charity was chosen after Clover recently moved into the complex.

Clover was central to the celebrations and activities which included tombola, raffle, home made cakes, guess the name of the Teddy and others.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham Cllr Shaukat Ali and Miss Wajida Naseem attended the event.

Also invited were 12 students from a Maltby school who have been excluded from mainstream education and now attend an extra curriculum venture ran by an organisation called Core Fitness and Health.

They are also learning core English and mathematics skills, plus carpentry and boxing. T

Residents enjoyed their company so much they have invited the young people to return at Christmas so that they can hold a party for them.

The efforts of customers and staff paid off and £260 was raised.
