The overall aim is to encourage people to get involved and take action to reduce their carbon footprint.

Joanne Wehrle, Dearne Valley Eco-Vision project manager said: “We hope that people will come along to find out more about the Eco-Vision.

Residents and groups can take part in discussions to help shape the future of the Dearne Valley, putting forward their suggestions for what communities can do to save energy, money and help address climate change.

The event, from 10am until 4pm, is the second of its kind and will be held at the soon-to-open Dearne Valley Kingswood Activity Centre in Denaby on March 16.

The Dearne Valley Eco-Vision, which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, aims to transform the former coal mining area through low-carbon living and green technologies.

The ambition is for the Dearne to develop a reputation as an eco-leader by finding solutions to the problems of climate change.
