Grease monkeys gear up to be named UK's 'garage hero'

MECHANICS in Rotherham are being given the chance to scoop a £1,000 prize as part of a national competition to uncover the nation’s top spanner men.

Nominations have to have been submitted by September 15 to stand a chance of winning the coveted title of Britain’s ‘Garage Hero’, plus the cash prize and the chance to appear in a national fundraising calendar.

The competition, organised by leading car component supplier Valeo Service (UK), aims to highlight the excellent work done by mechanics at independent garages as well as raise funds for road safety charity Brake and motor industry benevolent fund Ben.

Brent Hudson, Marketing Director at Valeo Service (UK), said:  “There are hundreds of private independent garages in Yorkshire and this award is designed to recognise the fantastic work they do.

“With this award we want to highlight the unsung heroes in the industry, who represent the quality, service and commitment that people look for in an independent garage.”

The Valeo Garage Hero not only gets a £1,000 cash prize, they also get a chance to put their garage on the map by appearing in a charity calendar.

Five runners up each receive £200 and will also get their work and their garage showcased in the calendar.

Garages, friends, family and happy customers can enter someone they think is deserving of the award by visiting www.valeogaragehero.co.uk.
