Glock rues Delhi disaster

TIMO Glock was left ruing a first turn wipe-out at the Indian Grand Prix—compounding a miserable trip to the Sub-Continent for the Virgin Racing star.

After gearbox problems wrecked qualifying, the German was forced to start at the back of the grid.

But after a solid start he was caught up in the carnage on the opening bend with Kamui Kobayashi careering off the circuit and quickly getting back on track, only to smash into the Virgin car.

Said a frustrated Glock: “It was an unlucky day again after a disappointing qualifying . I just came down into turn one on the outside and, all of a sudden, I saw bits flying around.

“I braked a bit earlier than normal and when I turned, suddenly Kobayashi drove straight into me and I couldn’t avoid the crash. My front wing was damaged so I came back in to change it, and we realised that we also had quite a lot of damage on the left side of the car, so we decided to stop.”

On the flipside team-mate Jerome D’Ambrosio crossed the line in 16th.
