Get fit for charity!

PEOPLE from Rotherham are being encouraged to get fit for charity by taking part in a swim and bike challenge at their local leisure centres to help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

As part of the BHF’s Circle of Hope events, taking place across Rotherham on June 29, Rotherham Leisure Complex, Maltby Leisure Centre, Wath Upon Dearne Leisure Centre and Aston Leisure Centre are encouraging people of all ages and abilities to sign up for a sporty challenge.

It can be a 1km (40 lengths) sponsored swim at Rotherham Leisure Complex at 3pm or 5km or 10km bike challenge, which will run throughout the day at all four centres.

Those who prefer to cheer on from the sidelines can still do their bit by sponsoring local people who are taking part in the events.

Alternatively, they can volunteer to be a lap counter at the leisure centres (email [email protected]).

Rotherham Leisure Complex will be offering a discounted rate of only £2 adults and £1 for children rate during the swimathon.

For those who come dressed in red, you will be entered into a free prize draw for the chance to win a free gym membership and many more prizes.

Organisers hope the event will encourage the people of Rotherham to take part in heart healthy activities and to think about their own heart health while raising sponsorship to help the BHF fight for every heartbeat.

Heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer.

Everyone who takes part in Circle of Hope events will receive a free wrist band and entry to the BHF’s Heart Matters membership service for free support and regular issues of heart matters magazine.

Every pound raised will go to the BHF’s Mending Broken Hearts Appeal to help make a difference to people’s lives.

Entry to the swimathon and bikathon is free and anyone under the age of 16, must be accompanied by an adult.
