Then lace up your running shoes, get down Clifton Park and help play a part in putting our town on the map for the right reasons.

More than 70 runners will lace up their running shoes for the Love Later Life run, on Sunday, May 7, which has been organised by Age UK Rotherham, in conjunction with the Advertiser’s Fighting Fit campaign.

The event will include a 5km race and a one-lap fun run.

Julie Benson, Age UK’s fundraising development officer, said preparations were going well, adding: “It should be a really successful day.”

Marathon man Ray Matthews has also been involved in organising the run.

Grandad-of-three Ray raised more than £30,000 for Newman School by completing 75 marathons in 75 days for his 75th birthday.

He urged people to sign up for the event and help put Rotherham on the map for the right reasons.

“What better way to do that than by lacing up your running shoes and getting involved?” said Ray, of Maltby.

People should also take part in the run for their own benefit but that is just the start.”

The one-mile family run will begin at 10.30am and the 5km race at 11.15am.

Harworth Brass Band and Rotherham African Drummers will help keep the crowds entertained and runners motivated.

Entry for the 5km race costs £8, and £4 for the fun run.

Runners can either choose to raise sponsorship for Age UK or a charity of their choice.

Entry will also be available on the day.
