Gas supplies in Rawmarsh caught off after water leak

A BURST water main has left people in Rawmarsh with no gas today (Tuesday).

National Grid said water had entered its gas mains on St Nicholas Walk, shortly after 5.30am.

A spokesman said the leak had resulted in gas supplies being cut off to a number of properties.

He added: “We cannot carry out our repairs until the burst water main is fixed and the water is pumped out of the gas mains.

“We are working closely with the water company to resolve this situation and restore gas supplies as soon as possible.

“Every property involved will need to be visited to ensure the gas supply is turned off at the meter.

“It’s very important that people ask to see official identification before letting an engineer into their property.”
