Fun in the sun across the borough

CLEAR blue skies provided the perfect backdrop for a host of community events over the weekend as fun in the sun was top of the agenda.

Crowds were out in force across the borough as temperatures soared at Waverley Gala, Harthill Carnival and Wickersley’s Dry Land Regatta on Saturday.

Shire horses, vintage tractors, falcons and football were among the attractions at Harthill Carnival which kicked-off with shire horse judging at noon followed by a parade through the village.

In Wickersley, a human fruit machine, boat races and stalls entertained fun-seekers at the Dry Land Regatta organised by Bramley and Wickersley Lions Club and Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club.

Across town, Harworth Estates, the driving force behind the regeneration of the Waverley area, hosted their free gala on the development site.

Visitors enjoyed live music, a performance from hit musical Grease by students of Brinsworth Comprehensive School, circus skills workshops, face-painting, a bouncy castle and refreshments.
