Fracking firm looking at drilling in second Rotherham village

Ineos said a site south of Dinnington Road in the village had been highlighted as having potential for drilling.

Preparatory surveys are being carried out by the chemicals company in the south of the Rotherham borough.

Operations director Tom Pickering said: “This project is another step forward for Ineos Shale and our plans to learn more about the geology of our licence areas.

“Throughout this process we will consult local people to make them fully aware of the latest developments.”

An anti-fracking village walk and picnic takes place in Harthill from noon on Sunday, meeting in the car park on Woodall Lane.
