Flat fire and arson attacks overnight

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a blaze on the balcony of a flat in the early hours of this morning (Friday).

Crews from Dearne, Elm Lane and Tankersley were called to Ash View, Greasbrough, at around 4.05am.

A fire service spokeswoman said they spent around an hour to put out the accidental blaze and no-one was injured in the incident.

Firefighters were also called to three arson attacks across the borough.

Two wheelie bins were ablaze on The Maltings, Canklow, which a crew put out at around 11.30pm.

Arsonists also torched rubbish on Gray Avenue, Swallownest, at 11.35pm and a mattress on Smithy Bridge Lane, Brampton Bierlow, was also set alight at around 11.45pm.
