Three fire crews were called to the waterway off Pastures Way in Mexborough on Thursday afternoon.

The hapless animal was lifted from the water by the fireman and given over to the RSPCA.

Around 15 officers attended the incident shortly after 1pm.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “One of the crew entered into the water and scooped the deer out.

“It was given over to the care of the RSCPA but was fine when we left it.”
