Firefighters to return to scene of Dalton blaze to launch investigation

FIREFIGHTERS spent eight hours at the scene of a blaze which sent smoke billowing across Rotherham's night sky.

Five fire crews were called to the huge blaze at former Millside Centre, on Doncaster Road in Dalton at around 7pm last night (Thursday).

Fire officers used an aerial ladder platform to try and put out the flames.

The building was well alight when the fire officers arrived at the scene where they found the front and roof of the building on fire.

Fire crews left the scene at around 2am this morning and an investigation into the cause of the inferno is under way.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said there had been no injuries in the incident.
