Firefighters tackle spate of arson attacks

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with four deliberate fires in the space of just ten minutes in South Yorkshire last night.

Arsonists torched a Masda in Swinton and in the Barnsley area two other cars were set alight along with a charity clothing bank.

The incidents were all reported between 4.25am and 4.35am. South Yorkshire fire service said crews attended hundreds of deliberately started fires in South Yorkshire every year, which represented a massive drain on resources and could divert them from attending more serious incidents.

Residents are urged to report known arsonists, anonymously, to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
