Firefighters tackle corn field fires

FIREFIGHTERS from Dearne station attended two corn field blazes overnight.

At 8.30pm, staff attended land in Little Houghton, where one such fire had spread to nearby gardens and sheds.

They left the scene at 9.45pm — the blaze was recorded as deliberate.

A crew also attended another field fire in Back Lane, Nether Haugh, at 9.55pm, leaving the scene at around 10.30pm.

Aston firefighters attended a rubbish fire in Brampton-en-le-Morthen overnight.

Staff were called to Wood Lane at around 10.15pm, where rubbish was alight.

They left the scene at around 10.55pm and said the fire is thought to have been deliberate.

Rotherham station firefighters dealt with a car fire in Moorgate this morning.

Staff were called to Brunswick Road at around 2.45am, where a BMW was alight.

They left at around 3.25am. The blaze is thought to have been deliberate.
